Every good idea and all creative work are the offspring of the imagination.
The debt we owe to the play of imagination is incalculabe.

Typos are very important to all written form. It gives the reader something to look for so they aren’t distracted by the total lack of content in your writing
Randy K. Milholland
I’m sure there are countless mistakes throughout !maginality, and for this I apologise. But I try to limit them. I read and re-read everything I post here. The point is we should always proof-read anything we are about to post. So create and stick to this habit:
Before you hit the post button, re-read anything you have written.

“Pay no attention to what the critics say… Remember, a statue has never been set up in honor of a critic!”
Jean Sibelius
Oh, and his music is pretty good as well, see what forgetting about the critics can do!
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Terry Pratchett
Keep your mind free of what others want you to do, creativity comes from within. By all means be inspired but don’t be dictated to.
What’s the use of a good quotation if you can’t change it?
Doctor Who
Take something that inspires you and run with it, develop it, let it grow, then set it free.
With a little creativity
I can’t understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I’m frightened of the old ones.
John Cage
If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe.
Carl Sagan
Well, the universe has been sorted for us, but the space you need for your own creativity still needs to be found. Go make some pie!
In memory of George Carlin who died yesterday 22nd June 2008 I thought we’d have a quote that could be used to inspire us all. George said,
‘I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.’
I’d like to add that the same is true of any creative activity. Find the line and cross it, creativity is all about going beyond, doing what hasn’t been done before. So find the line and cross it deliberately today, in memory of George.
“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.”
George Orwell
‘Creative ability and personal responsibility are strongest when the mind is free from supernatural belief and operates in an atmosphere of freedom and democracy.’
I found this quote from unknown origin as I was doing a search for creative quotes. I don’t know the context for the quote and so I don’t want to comment directly on it. However, it did get me thinking. I know many a ‘believing creative’ who would wholeheartedly disagree with the quote and claim the complete opposite. I also know many ‘secular creatives’ who would wholeheartedly agree with it.
Perhaps the only thing that weakens creative ability is a closed mind, one that doesn’t seek dialogue with any side of the debate?
